Pelion Villages - Lafkos There is no motor traffic in Lafkos the twisty cobbled streets are too narrow. Round every corner there is something interesting to see from the spectacular views as mountains drop away to the sea to the brilliantly planted garden, an oasis of greenery among the dark stone of the houses. The village has traditional architecture with houses and mansions dating from the 1870s. The village square fills with tables at lunch and in the evening where you can dine out under the shade of gigantic plane trees. From the village you can walk down kalderimia (donkey paths) to the sea at Milina. There are no modern supermarkets but traditional shops instead. The local bakery has a traditional wood-fired oven where you can buy delicious olive bread, Spanakopita (spinach pie) and Tiropita (cheese pie). |
